"I'll show you some species"

Films: Deadly Species (2002)

Alias: None

Type: Mystical

Location: Forest

Height/Weight: That of average humans.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: If a myth brings up a Fountain of Youth, don't even try to go after it. No one should have to live forever. It's insanity! Then again, what'll get you first? The crushing realization that you will outlive everyone you love, or the guardians of said fountain and their many sharp teeth...?

History: Deep within the Everglades, there is a coveted relic belonging to the Calusa Native American tribe. It is a Fountain of Youth, said to be guarded by a tribe of demonic creatures with ferocious fervor. Naturally, this doesn't stop an egotistic hunter and his unwitting crew from trying to find it. As one might guess, the monsters are not entirely fond of intruders...

Notable Kills: One tosses a guy onto a stalagmite.

Final Fate: In time, the remaining explorers manage to escape the monsters, and the water they do find is used to restore one guy from regressing into one of them after he gets infected. However, it seems that more people intend on getting to the fountain, which is either bad news for us or the beasts.

Powers/Abilities: Anyone bitten by these creatures runs the risk of slowly becoming one of them.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-Imagine having a small army of naked buff demon-men coming at you at full force, and you have the right idea. The costumes may be a bit rubbery, but the savagery is there, and fully capable of pummeling you to nothing. Gnarly nails, too.

Trivia: -This film was directed by Daniel Springen, who also gave us such classics as "Frank vs. God" and the "I Hate Musicals" short.

-The Calusa, or Shell Indians, were a real tribe in southwest Florida, known for their belligerent attitude towards outsiders and for being some of the first shell collectors around. They died out somewhere around the late 1700s due to enemy tribes and Spanish invaders.
